Fontbonne University men's wrestler recently formulated the Brothers Brigade in the summer of 2022. It was created to represent more underrepresented male students of color at Fontbonne.
"I believe that it's important to have a group such as this on campus because this is another great way to build a community here at Fontbonne," said Dennis. "With this group I'm looking to help provide students with mentorship, leadership opportunities, fun, and a safe space to be themselves."
The mission of the Brothers Brigade aims to increase the retention rate and campus involvement of underrepresented male students by providing a brotherhood, academic resources, and participation in leadership opportunities and activities.
"Micah recognized the importance of having a safe space for males of color to congregate and be authentic at a predominately white institution," said Sierra McClellon Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs. "Brothers Brigade is a way for these young men to hold each other accountable and support one another while also gaining knowledge and strength through discussion-based conversations guided by older males of color who have volunteered to help mentor these students."
She continued, "Micah has also been vocal about the holistic development of the members of Brother's Brigade, as physical, spiritual, and emotional wellness all contribute to the retention and success of these young males of color."
