How It Happened

In the first half, the Griffins offense came out fast with a 3-0 shot advantage in the first six minutes of play. Both teams continued to trade-off on shot attempts until the 25th minute when the Panthers were able to break through.

Napoleon Urquidi received a pass from inside the box and he was able to beat Griffins goalie, Ethan Cowell, to give them the 1-0 lead. Charles Gibbs and Matt Eaton had shot attempts in hopes of tying the game before the half ended, but those went high and Greenville led by one at the break.

In the second half, the Griffins once again had an early chance at goal with Eaton's header going wide in the 50th minute. Then, in the 61st minute, Jared McPeek scored his team-high seventh on the season to extend the advantage out to 2-0.

Fontbonne continued to apply pressure with Jared Lyeki and Matt Eaton each seeing its shot attempts in both the 68th and 70th minute get saved by Panthers goalie, Nick Holland. Despite the Griffins effort late, the Panthers were able to secure the shutout win.
