Men's And Women's Cross Country Picked To Finish Sixth In SLIAC Preseason Poll

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the 2018 Men's and Women's Cross Country Preseason Polls this afternoon. Both the Griffins teams came in at No. 6 to start the year.

On the women's side, Webster, who claimed the 2017 SLIAC Women's Cross Country Championship, holds the top spot with six first-place votes and 62 points overall. Greenville totaled two first-place votes and 56 points overall, while Principia is in third with one first-place vote and 47 points.

This year, the Griffins look to climb up the standings under new head coach, Justin Halley. He'll take over a roster that'll bring back the likes of Colleen Gosser, Katie Gosser, and Sarah Rhoads. Newcomers Haley Beck and Desiree Brooks will look to make an impact and guide the Griffins toward a successful 2018 season.

On the men's side, back-to-back SLIAC Champions Greenville University, stand alone in first with six first-place votes and 60 points overall. Webster is right behind them with 55 points, while Principia (51), Spalding (42) and Westminster (33), round out the top-five.

This season, Jacob Dixon is the lone returner for the Griffins. However, he'll be joined by sophomore Juwan Lee and freshman Austin Joyce as they'll look to make strides in 2018.
