Anastasia Georges Place Second in SLIAC Championship
EUREKA, Ill. – The Fontbonne University women's wrestling team competed at the first-ever SLIAC Championship and they had three athletes winning medals.
Anastasia Georges finished in second place in the 123 class, Jasmine Gordon placed third in the 136 class, and Liberty McKenzie also placed third in the 191 class.
"I'm really proud of our performance," commented Head Coach Chad Cook. "Even in the matches we lost we battled way better. Anastasia wrestled an exciting style en route to the finals. For Jas to bounce back to get 3rd beating the wrestler that beat her earlier in the day is a huge testament to her toughness and perseverance."
"It was also nice that the conference thought enough of us to name as the team with the best sportsmanship because we take a lot of pride in how we treat our opponents," he concluded.
