Women's Volleyball Falls Against Hannibal-LaGrange

HANNIBAL, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women's volleyball team fell in four set on the road against Hannibal-LaGrange.

Result:

Hannibal-LaGrange def. Fontbonne, 3-1 (27-25, 20-25, 25-14, 25-15)

The Basics

Set 1: It was back-and-forth play throughout the first set but Fontbonne led 20-17 on a kill from Ella Werner-Click. The Lady Trojans regained its lead, 24-22, but the Griffins kept battling and took a 25-24 advantage on Emma Pramik's service ace.

However, the Lady Trojans played spoiler taking the final three points en route to the 27-25 win.

Set 2: In the second, the Griffins were in control with a 14-9 lead and expanded it out to 18-11 on an HLGU attack error. Fontbonne looked to finish the Lady Trojans off quickly leading 24-15 though, the home team rattled off a 5-0 run to trim the deficit down to four.

The Griffins stayed composed and ended the set on a kill from Kristen Kaempfe for the 25-20 victory.

Set 3: The script flipped in the third with Hannibal-LaGrange this time around taking a 14-8 lead. With the Lady Trojans posted a match-high 16 kills and .400 hitting percentage in the set they were able to go on for the 25-14 win.

Set 4: The two teams went point-for-point in the fourth but Hannibal-LaGrange gained a little breathing room with a 15-10 advantage. They closed out the set on a 10-5 run en route to the 25-15 match win.

Fontbonne Leaders

• Fontbonne finished with 38 kills and a .082 hitting percentage.
• Jadyn Fitzgerald led with collegiate double-double No. 9 with 12 kills and 10 digs.
• Lizzy Harvey got the start and made quite the impact with a career-high 10 kills and .269 hitting percentage.
• Jordan Harpel added seven kills and a .333 hitting percentage.
• Ella Werner-Click finished with 36 assists.
• Emma Pramik paced the group defensively with 21 digs, while Mia Everett had a season-high 10.

Up Next

The Griffins will have its home opener next Thursday when they'll host rival Webster. First-service at 7 p.m.
