Women's Volleyball Picked To Finish Seventh In SLIAC Preseason Poll
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released its 2021 Women’s Volleyball Preseason Poll and the Griffins slide in at No. 7.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released its 2021 Women's Volleyball Preseason Poll and the Griffins slide in at No. 7.
Webster and the reigning SLIAC Tournament Champions, the Westminster College Blue Jays, tied with 43 points each and three first place votes. Greenville also came in with 43 points and two first place votes.
Spalding rounds out the top four, followed by Blackburn, Iowa Wesleyan, Fontbonne, and Eureka to conclude the field.
The Griffins bring back seven returners led by Rae Andrews as she's back for her senior season where in her first year with Fontbonne she compiled 220 kills and 268 digs.
Abby Grumich returns at the setter position after totaling a career-high 418 assists, while Jessica Molden looks to build off her freshman season with 150 assists. Kelly Herr, Savannah Silva, Claire Sease, and Olivia Tallo each look to play a key role this season.
The team also welcomes seven newcomers to the roster for 2021 in Emma Pramik, Lizzy Harvey, Jadyn Fitzgerald, Ella Werner, Campbell Brown, Jackie Drury, and Hannah Gallagher.
Fontbonne gets its long-awaited season underway on February 6th when they'll visit Blackburn. First-service at 1 p.m.
Its home opener will be on February 8th against University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy. There will be no spectators allowed at indoor events held at Fontbonne.
