Women's Volleyball Finishes Out Season With Sweeps Over Tigers And Red Devils

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women's volleyball team finished out its 2019 campaign with two sweeps over both Iowa Wesleyan and Eureka at the Webster University Quad on Saturday.

Final: Fontbonne 3, Iowa Wesleyan 0 (26-24, 25-17, 27-25)

Location: St. Louis, Mo.

Records: Fontbonne (5-23; 5-12 SLIAC), Iowa Wesleyan (10-18; 6-11 SLIAC)

Inside The Numbers

  • The Griffins ended with 35 kills and a .261 hitting percentage.
  • Defensively, they earned 77 digs, six block assists and seven total blocks.
  • The Tigers concluded with 30 kills and a .165 hitting percentage.

Fontbonne Leaders

  • Maura Rabun dominated with a team-high 11 kills and a .435 hitting percentage.
  • Rae Andrews had another strong match on both sides of the net with nine kills, a .304 hitting percentage, and 15 digs.
  • Setter Abby Grumich made it five double-doubles on the year with 29 assists and 11 digs.
  • Megan Schaller posted a match-high 24 digs.

Iowa Wesleyan Leaders

  • Lida Landre led all hitters with 14 kills and a .750 hitting percentage.
  • Paige Kammerer and Ariel Smale combined for 29 of the 30 assists.
  • Jenna Murphy posted a team-high 16 digs.

Final: Fontbonne 3, Eureka 0 (25-9, 25-11, 25-21)

Records: Fontbonne (6-23; 6-12 SLIAC), Eureka (5-24; 2-16 SLIAC)

Inside The Numbers

  • Fontbonne continued its strong offensive play with 32 kills and just nine errors for a .299 hitting percentage which is its second highest on the season.
  • The Red Devils struggled with 17 kills and 20 errors for a negative -.032 hitting percentage.

Fontbonne Leaders

  • Rabun led with a team-high eight kills and one error for a .538 hitting percentage.
  • Emma Seiz followed with a strong game of our won with seven kills and a .462 hitting percentage.
  • Grumich dished out 18 of the 32 assists.
  • Megan Schaller collected a match-high 15 digs.

Eureka Leaders

  • Ariel Campbell totaled a match-high 13 kills on 52 swings
  • Katlyn Arrenholz ended with 16 assists.
  • Defensively, Jordyn Fox, McKenzie Reiners, and Paige Klingler had 10 digs each.
