Women's Volleyball vs. Bethany And Avila Preview

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women's volleyball team looks for two more wins in non-conference action on Friday against Bethany College at 4 p.m., followed by a 6 p.m., match against host Avila.

A Look At The Griffins

  • Fontbonne picked up its second straight win on Wednesday with a four-set win over Eureka.
  • The team totaled 48 kills, owned a season-high .220 hitting percentage and tied its season-high with 14 block assists.
  • On the year, the Griffins are averaging 10.67 kills per set and are led by Kristina Eason's 142. She's also accumulated 74 assists, 116 digs and 29 blocks.
  • Maura Rabun has totaled 133 kills, a .299 hitting percentage, and a team-high 52 blocks.
  • Against Eureka, Victoria Curtice eclipsed the 100-kill mark and now has 103 on the year.
  • Megan Schaller leads with 260 assists, while Sarah Borgerding continues to pace them defensively with 181 digs.


A Look At The Bethany College Swedes

  • The Swedes, who are part of the NAIA, have dropped four out its last five, including a five-set defeat against Sterling.
  • On the season, the defense has been the story for Bethany with its 1,527 digs which ranks them 26th in NAIA.
  • Individually, Jordan Valentine is on top with 230 kills and a .313 hitting percentage.
  • On the service line, Ivona Vojvodic will be someone to keep an eye-out-for with her team-high 33 aces.
  • Defensively, the Swedes have three players with at least 200 digs and are led by Haley Reifsteck's 291.


A Look At The Avila Eagles

  • Like Bethany, the Eagles, who are also part of the NAIA, have fallen in three out of its last four matches as well.
  • As a team, the Eagles are posting 10.17 kills per set and a .137 hitting percentage.
  • Amara Meeks leads them offensively with 201 kills and a .200 hitting percentage.
  • On the defensive side of the net, Brittany Castillo averages 3.04 digs per set and totaled 243 thus far on the year.
