Panthers Pull Away Late From Griffins

ELSAH, Ill.—The Fontbonne University women's tennis team gave Principia everything they had on Tuesday night, however, the Panthers pulled away for the 6-3 win.

The Griffins (0-4), jumped out to the early lead in doubles action as Mariana Rogers and Bailey Benes dominated with an 8-1 win at the No. 1 spot. The Panthers, though stole the final two matches in doubles as Hallie Jones and Olivia Kasprzyk hung on for the 8-5 win over Jordan Sampson and Andrea Wiele.

At No. 3, the duo of Dani Lomascolo and Amber Heady came away with the 8-4 victory over Morgan Murphy and Becky Kottmeyer.

In singles action, Rogers kept rolling with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Gracie Buchanan at No. 1. Hallie Jones got a point with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Bailey Benes and Kasprzyk followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Sampson at the No. 3 position.

However, Murphy earned an impressive 6-3, 1-6, (10-7) win against Sarah Switzer. However, the Panthers gathered the final two points from Dani Lomascolo and Amber Heady at No. 5 and No. 6.
