Women's Tennis Falls In Its Home Opener Against Illinois College
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women’s tennis team hit the court at home for the first time this year. Despite its effort, the team fell 7-2 against Illinois College.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women's tennis team hit the court at home for the first time this year. Despite its effort, the team fell 7-2 against Illinois College.
In doubles action, the duo of Mariana Rogers and Hannah Edmundson shined with a hard fought 9-7 win over Sally Hixon and Lisa Noggle. However, Illinois College won No. 2 doubles and No. 3 doubles 8-0.
In singles play, Rogers continued her strong play with a 6-1, 4-6, 10-5 win over Hixon. Lisa Noggle, however, defeated Edmundson 6-1, 6-1. After Ariel Rhoades won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, Jordan Sampson put up a good fight against Lena Reed at No. 4 but Reed hung on for the 6-4, 6-4 victory.
Kalisa Goertz and Madelyn Deardorff each won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 5 and No. 6 singles, allowing IC to go on for the 7-2 win.
