MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Fontbonne University women's soccer team opened its 2019 season in a battle against Ozarks as the contest ended in a 0-0 (2OT) tie.

How It Happened
In the first half, the Griffins controlled play with an 8-4 shot advantage, including a 20:00 minute stretch where they outshot Ozarks, 7-0. However, neither team was able to find twine and it was scoreless after one. In the second half, the stat sheet flipped with Ozarks this time around outshooting Fontbonne, 7-3. Both goalies, Makayla Hussong and Kiara Henry kept respective offenses from finding the back of the net and after 90:00 minutes of action it was off to overtime.
In the first OT, Molly Kovarik had a chance for goal at the 99:25 mark, but her shot went wide and 10:00 more minutes were needed in the second OT. In the final minutes of play, Ozarks had the lone shot but it was off target and the game ended in a 0-0 tie.

The Griffins will play at Rhodes College on Sunday Sept. 1st at 1:00 p.m.
