Flowers Earns Two Wins Against Hawks And Spartans

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men's wrestling team returned to action tonight when the Griffins squared off against Quincy University and host Missouri Baptist.

Match One

Quincy def. Fontbonne, 38-9

After the Hawks jumped out to a 16-0 led, the Griffins got on the board at 165 when Harry Rodriguez knocked off Ibraham Tafour by a 5-2 decision. At 197, the Griffins picked up another victory with Jake Flowers defeating Donnell Packer by fall at 6:50.

After trailing 11-0, the Griffins picked up six points with Joe Beck winning by default. At 197, the Griffins cut into the deficit once more when Flowers won his second match of the night defeating Hunter Atwell by fall at 4:29.

The momentum carried from there at 285 with James Lenox-Wise winning for the first time this year defeating Jacob Bader by fall (1:32). Diego McCormick won by default at 125 putting Fontbonne down 28-23. However, the Spartans fended off Fontbonne with Dillon Witt winning by fall over Daniel Bauer for the 34-23 win.
