Castelline Earns First Nationals Win In Program History

At 133 pounds, Cody Castelline earned the programs first win at Nationals with a 3-1 decision win over Jason Padilla (Simpson). He advanced to square off against No. 4 Charlie Pickell (Augsburg) and it was Pickell winning by major decision, 11-3.
On the consolation side of the bracket, Castelline squared off against No. 3 Eron Haynes (Nebraska Wesleyan) and fell by major decision, 16-6.
At 141 pounds, David Vance took on No. 9 Veliko Kochiu (Concordia-Wisconsin) and Kochiu won by technical fall, 16-0. In the consolation bracket, Vance took on La'ron Ruffin (Adrian) and Ruffin went on for the technical fall win, 22-4.
At 174, Micah Dennis fell by decision, 11-4, against Elijah Marin (Ferrum) in his first match. In the consolation match, Dennis faced off against Zach Altman from Adrian and fell by major decision, 12-3.
At 197, Sam Martin opened with a 4-0 fall (1:17) against No. 3 Gabriel Zierden (Concordia-MN). In his second match of the day, Martin took a tough 4-1 fall (1:50) against Trevor Trende (Cornell).
