Fontbonne grad to lead Griffins in 2012
March 9, 2012 - The Fontbonne University athletic department is pleased to announce it has named Danielle Donze as its women's lacrosse coach for the 2012 season. This will be Donze's first career collegiate coaching job.
Donze is a Fontbonne graduate and was a member of the inaugural women's lacrosse team at Fontbonne. She went on to be a four-year starter and a three-year captain. Fontbonne Directors of Athletics Maria Eftink believes Donze is a good fit for this leadership role due to her extensive knowledge of Fontbonne and the lacrosse program.
"We're glad Coach Donze will be leading us into the next chapter of Fontbonne women's lacrosse," Eftink said. "Coach Donze's experience with our program dating back to the inaugural team will prove to be a great asset. She's showed great work ethic, leadership skills and responsibility during her most recent coaching roles and her graduate assistantship at Fontbonne. I believe our women's lacrosse program will flourish under Coach Donze's tenure."
Donze has been coaching lacrosse in the St. Louis area since graduating from Fontbonne. She has been a coach and field manager for St. Louis Lax for the past five years managing high school summer, fall, and winter leagues.
Before taking over the helm at Fontbonne, Donze was a volunteer assistant coach for the Griffins where she made a major impact during the 2011 season.
Donze received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Pyschology from Fontbonne in 2010. She is currently completing her Masters in Curriculum Design and Instruction at the University.
Donze will lead Fontbonne into its 2012 season this weekend as they open their schedule with games against Augustana College and Alma College.
