Women’s Basketball Picked Fifth in SLIAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University women's basketball team was selected fifth in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, announced the conference office Tuesday morning.

"We have a good mix of returning players and newcomers that will allow us to compete with any team in the SLIAC this year," stated Head Coach Michael Fitzgerald. "We are looking forward to the challenge."

The Griffins finished last season with a 15-14 overall record and 8-6 in conference play. Their season came to a close in the semifinals of the SLIAC tournament.

The team returns 10 players and welcome seven newcomers.

The Griffins open their season at home on Wednesday, Nov. 8 versus Illinois College. Their schedule features 25 games with 13 at home. They begin SLIAC play on Saturday, Dec. 2, with a home game versus Principia.
