Haring tops daily national assists ranking
Senior Emmie Haring's accolades continue. The point-guard has 85 assists on the year and as of January 3, leads NCAA Division III in total assists.
St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne University women's basketball senior Emmie Haring is first among fellow NCAA Division III student-athletes with 85 assists on the season. The national ranking, which is created daily by the NCAA office, also places Haring third in assists per game as of January 3rd.
The five-foot-six point guard has started all 12 games this season and after becoming Fontbonne's all-time career assists leader two weeks ago, she hopes to eclipe the 500-mark with 13 games left in the season.
Haring (Ballwin, Mo./St. Joseph's Academy) leads Division III by two assists, but has 22 more assists than the next closest Central Region player from Concordia Chicago followed by Eureka College's Kerrigan Dura. Dura is the next closest St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) competitor within range with 62 assists on the season. Both players will square off tonight in a SLIAC matchup at Eureka at 6 p.m.
Haring's 7.1 assists per game average is also first in the Central Region rankings. Prior to tonight's game at Eureka she totals 466 career assists and has a career average of 5.4 assists per game.
In the January 4th ranking, Haring remains in the top slot with 93 overall assists and moves up to second in assists per game as she averages 7.2 after recording eight in the latest loss at Eureka.
