Venegas named SLIAC Field Athlete of the Week

Freshman Raven Venegas has garnered SLIAC Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this year after winning titles in the discus, hammer throw and shot put this past weekend at the MSJ Invitational.

St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne University women's track and field student-athlete, Raven Venegas, was named the SLIAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the week of April 24, 2017.

Venegas, a freshman from Racine, Wis., took three titles at the Mount St. Joseph Invitational this past weekend. The two-sport athlete won in discus, hammer throw and shot put, while breaking her own school-record in the hammer. Venegas also ran a leg of the 4x100 relay which broke the school's freshman freshman record.

On the SLIAC performance leaderboard, Venegas is first in shot put, third in hammer throw and fifth in the discus throw heading into the upcoming SLIAC Track and Field Championships, hosted by Greenville College April 28-29.
