EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The Fontbonne University softball team opened their 2024 season with their annual spring tournament. They fell to Carroll 1-0.
Both teams remained scoreless until the sixth inning when Carroll scored.
Grace Paez and Jillian Mengel were the lone Griffins who were able to record a hit.
Sam Foppe pitched a complete game for the Griffins and was credited with the loss in the circle. She struck out two while allowing four hits and one run.
The Griffins return to action on Sunday, Feb. 25 as they host Monmouth at 11 a.m. followed by Grinnell at 1 p.m. All games are being played at Plummer Family Park in Edwardsville, Illinois.
