St. Louis- After a thrilling win over Augustana yesterday, the Fontbonne University Griffins fell to host Central college 3-1 today. With a 34-11 record, Fontbonne looks to win against Coe College tomorrow to stay in the playoffs. First pitch is slated for 12pm.
Freshman Madi Leonard posted a good pitching performance in her first career post-season start, striking out five while allowing six hits.
The Central Dutch got out to a quick 2-0 lead with a double, two singles and three stolen bases in the top of the first inning.
Fontbonne responded in the bottom of the first with one run on three hits. Cassie Glixman reached on a fielder's choice as Central through out Marissa Simon at third who doubled. Danni Glixman doubled down the left field line, bringing Cassie home for the lone run.
Dutch pitching by Schulenberg kept the Griffin offense in check the rest of the game. Sarcone homered for the final Central run in the fourth.
