Men's Cross Country places fourth at SLIAC Championship
The Fontbonne University men's cross country team placed fourth in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships over the weekend. Mike Horn earned second-team all-conference honors while Shea Naes was named to the SLIAC all-sportsmanship team.
Principia College won the conference championship while Greenville College placed second.
Horn paced the Griffins with a time of 26:33 which placed him eight overall. Behind him was Ian Linquist who crossed the finish line at the 27:34 mark which was good for a 20th place finish. Rounding out the top three runners for the Griffins was Dillon Klaffer who finished the race with a time of 28:47 finishing 36th. Shea Naes (37th place) and Justin Hornerker (39th place) finished with times of 28:50 and 28:54 respectively.
Coach Barker had this to say about his team, "I am very proud of the way our team competed today. The men have been struggling with a few injuries. If we are healthy I felt we would have finished in third place. Mike Horn led us up front and ran a solid race on a windy day. I feel he is going to have a big race at the Midwest Regional meet on November 12. All of our seniors ran very solid. Ian Linquist, Bill Boxdorfer and Mike Horn have given Fontbonne cross country four years of hard work. I am especially proud of these men."
