Men's Tennis Drops Its Opener Against STLCOP

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men's tennis team opened its 2018-19 season at home with a tough 7-2 defeat against St. Louis College of Pharmacy.

In singles play, Sebastian Culton got things started with a win at the No. 1 spot over Clark Berry. After STLCOP won at No. 2 and No. 3, the Griffins got back on the board with Jaxon Ziemann winning 6-3, 6-2 against Zuan Lee.

However, that'd be the final point they'd get as the Eutectics swept in doubles action for the 7-2 victory.

No. 1 – Sebastian Culton (Fontbonne) def. Clark Berry (STLCOP), 8-2

No. 2 – James Bamberger (STLCOP) def. Zach Stevens (Fontbonne), 6-0, 7-5

No. 3 – George Win (STLCOP) def. Anh Nguyen (Fontbonne), 6-1, 6-3

No. 4 – Jaxon Ziemann (Fontbonne) def. Zuan Le (STLCOP), 6-3, 6-2

No. 5 – STLCOP won by Default

No. 6 – STLCOP won by Default


Doubles action

No. 1 – Jilakara/Berry (STLCOP) def. Culton/Stevens (Fontbonne), 8-2

No. 2 – Eke/Bamberger (STLCOP) def. Nguyen/Ziemann (Fontbonne), 8-2

No. 3 – STLCOP wins by Default


The team returns to the court on September 28th at the Men's ITA Tournament held at WashU.
