St. Louis-Fontbonne University battled, but ultimately lose a tough match to Augustana University at Fenton Soccer Park Sunday evening. After conceding an early goal, the Griffins tied the game 17 minutes in on a nice effort from senior midfielder Josh Schulz with an assist from freshman forward Austin Willenbrock. A goal in the 42nd minute of the 1st half saw the Vikings take a 2-1 lead into the break.
The Griffins' relentless pressure in the 2nd half was not enough, as they outshot Augustana 11-8, but could not find the equalizer as their record falls to 4-4-1. For the game, senior forward Zach Meyer and Schulz led the Griffins with 3 shots apiece.
Fontbonne returns to the pitch Wednesday afternoon at 4pm as they travel to Millikin University.
