Men's Basketball Advances To The SLIAC Semifinals After Win Over Westminster

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men's basketball team is moving on to the SLIAC Semifinals after knocking off Westminster, 88-75 in the SLIAC Quarterfinals.

How It Happened

After scoring a career-high 22 points against Iowa Wesleyan, Noah Coddington picked up right where he left off scoring 11 of the Griffins first 13 points to give them a 13-9 advantage with 14:47 remaining.

At 5:37, the Blue Jays trailed 29-26 on Landon Harrison's bucket. From there, though the Griffins closed out the final minutes on a 14-4 run to lead 43-30 at the break. Fontbonne shot 41.4 percent from the floor in the first and were led by Coddington's 15 points.

In the second half, a 3-point play from Coddington gave Fontbonne a comfortable 64-44 lead with 11:56 remaining. The Griffins were well in control with 8:57 to go with Domonic Doolin hitting his layup giving them a commanding 75-48 lead. Fontbonne held its double-digit lead the rest of the way for the 88-75 win.

• The Griffins shot 48.7 percent from the floor and connected on eight 3-pointers.
• Fontbonne controlled the paint outscoring Westminster, 50-36.
• The Blue Jays finished with a 39.1 field goal percentage.

Fontbonne Leaders

• Coddington led with a career-high 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting.
• Gus Kleekamp added 13 points and nine boards, while Domonic Doolin added 12 points and nine boards off the bench.
• Elijah Rice and Anthony Jones contributed nine points each.
• Cody McKinney finished with eight points off the bench.
