Griffins open California trip with loss to host Cal Lutheran

Thousand Oaks, Calif. - Fontbonne University men's basketball lost their third straight game tonight when they fell in the opening round of the Cal Lutheran Thrivent Financial Tournament to host Cal Lutheran 82-60. Fontbonne will play either Illinois Wesleyan or Nazareth College Tuesday night at 6pm PST/ 8 CST.

The Griffins trailed 22-35 at halftime after shooting just 30% in the field and totaling 21 rebounds. During the second half the Griffins shot 50% from the field.

Darius Rucker scored a game-high 17 points and 13 rebounds off the bench, the only double-double of the game. In the second half, Rucker scored 15 points, making each of his five shots in the field and totaled 10 offensive rebounds in the game, helping the Griffins earn 18 second-chance points. Jared Greenlee played 31 minutes for the Griffins, securing 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals.
