St. Louis- Fontbonne men's basketball advances to a 5-7 SLIAC record after a 78-55 win over Principia College Panthers on Saturday.
Two 6-0 runs and one 9-0 run in the first half gave Fontbonne the edge at the half. The Griffins led 33-22 after shooting 57% from the field in the 1st half while the Panthers struggled shooting 27% in their 1st half efforts.
Fontbonne's largest lead of the game was 27 points when the Griffins were leading 72-45 with four minutes remaining in the game.
Four Griffins managed to end the afternoon in double-digit scoring: Jared Greenlee (14), Blake Welch and Jack Stephens (13), and Darius Rucker (12).
Welch scored 9 of his 13 points from the 3-point range. Zach Carel and Greg Gentry each assisted their teammates 6 times during the game.
Fontbonne only returns to game-action on Saturday when they travel to Eureka. Men are set for a 3pm tipoff time.
