Baseball season comes to an end in SLIAC Tournament

May 14, 2012 - The Fontbonne University men's baseball team's season came to an end this weekend losing in the championship game of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Tournament to Webster University 14-3. The Griffins concluded their season at 21-23.

Fontbonne opened the SLIAC Tournament by Greenville College 12-9 but rebounded to beat Westminster University 8-7. The Griffins then got revenge on Greenville by beating the Panther 4-3 to advance to the championship game. Fontbonne needed to beat #1 seed Webster University twice on Saturday to keep its season alive but fell short. The Gorloks scored four runs in the first inning on Saturday and never looked back.

Fontbonne senior Jordan Jereb, junior Sean Fischer and sophomore Jacob Becker were all named to the SLIAC All-Tournament Team.
