Head Men's And Women's Wrestling Coach Amond Prater Announces Resignation

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Fontbonne University Vice President of Athletics Maria Buckel announced Friday that a search for new head men's and women's wrestling will take place immediately after Amond Prater announced his resignation.

"I want to thank Coach Prater for his work building Fontbonne men's and women's wrestling programs from scratch," said Buckel. "He's been a wonderful advocate for Fontbonne wrestling and will be missed. I wish him all the best in his new pursuits that will allow him more time with his wonderful family. He has laid a wonderful foundation for both programs and we're so grateful for all his work."

Coach Prater was named the inaugural head coach of Fontbonne wrestling back in 2019. He earned his first dual victory over MSOE also in 2019. Cody Castelline earned the first ever nationals win in 2021 at the NWCA Division III Championships, while Kai Poux became the first women's wrestler to compete and qualify for Nationals.
