Coach Rosner Leads SLIAC All-Decade Team, Joined By 10 Former Griffins
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the SLIAC All-Decade Team for softball and the Griffins were well represented.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the SLIAC All-Decade Team for softball and the Griffins were well represented.
Head coach and Fontbonne Hall of Famer Bill Rosner was the All-Decade Team coach. He is joined by Sarah Cerutti, Shannon Fitzpatrick, Cassi Glixman, Danni Glixman, Madi Leonard, Rachel McCarthy, Emelia Modglin, Marissa Simon, Emily Smith, and Kourtney VonBehren.
Rosner is the all-time winningest coach at Fontbonne with 222 victories over eight seasons. He guided the Griffins to six SLIAC Conference and Tournament Championships, eight SLIAC Tournament appearances, and six NCAA Tournament Appearances.
He was a three-time SLIAC Coach of the Year, while coaching 26 SLIAC All-Conference selectees, four SLIAC Newcomers of the Year, two SLIAC Player of the Year, three SLIAC Pitcher of the Year, five SLIAC All-Tournament Most Valuable Players, 11 NFCA All-Region Players, and four NFCA All-Americans.
Cerutti was a three-time SLIAC First Team honoree for the Griffins. She appeared in 145 games, totaling 126 runs, 143 hits, 23 doubles, nine triples, 31 homers, 114 RBI, a .649 slugging percentage, and a .335 batting average. She's the all-time leader in home runs at Fontbonne, second in walks (58), and tied for second in triples.
She brought the power out in 2014 where she had career-high numbers in average (.353), doubles (eight), home runs (12), total bases (90), slugging percentage (.756), and RBI (39).
Fitzpatrick also was a four-time SLIAC First Team selectee. She finished her career at Fontbonne with 152 runs scored, 152 hits, 23 doubles, 17 triples, 78 RBI, 90 walks, to go along with her .336 average. She ranks first all-time at Fontbonne in walks and triples, while coming in sixth in doubles.
Her breakout season was in her finale in 2015 where she set new career-highs in at-bats (125), runs scored (48), hits (47), average (.376), doubles (10), triples (seven), total bases (71), and slugging percentage (.568).
Cassi Glixman has quite the illustrious resume she built at Fontbonne where she was a two-time SLIAC Player of the Year, a four-time SLIAC All-Conference First Team honoree, named to the Regional All-Tournament Team Bloomington, an NFCA All-American Third Team, NFCA Midwest All-Region First Team, and was named CoSIDA Academic All-District and All-American in 2015. She can also add 2020 Fontbonne Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee.
On the field, Cassi Glixman appeared in 167 games, totaled 535 at-bats, and ranks first all-time in runs scored (170). She ranks second all-time in hits (227), average (.424), doubles (59), and RBI (169). She comes in third in slugging percentage (.643) and fourth in home runs (16).
Danni Glixman, also a Fontbonne Athletics Hall of Fame Inductee, was named all four seasons to the SLIAC All-Conference First Team and earned NFCA All-American Third Team honors. She collected SLIAC Newcomer of the Year honors in 2012 and was named to the NFCA Midwest All-Region First Team.
In 162 games, she ranks first all-time at Fontbonne in hits (232), average (.458), doubles (68), slugging percentage (.737), and RBI (172). She finished second in runs scored (136), homers (19), and fifth in triples (eight).
Madi Leonard dominated inside the circle during her time at Fontbonne. She was a two-time SLIAC Pitcher of the Year, SLIAC Newcomer of the Year, a two-time SLIAC All-Tournament MVP, and SLIAC All-Conference First Team member.
In 113 appearances and 99 starts, Leonard accumulated 45 complete games, 72 wins, four saves, 13 shutouts, 749 strikeouts, and a 2.21 career ERA in 570.1 innings pitched. She's the all-time leader in the SLIAC in wins, strikeouts, innings pitched, and third in shutouts.
McCarthy was named to the SLIAC All-Conference First Team twice and earned Pitcher of the Year honors in 2013. In her career, she appeared in 70 games and made 57 starts, totaling 41 wins, three saves, six shutouts, 310 strikeouts, and a 2.69 ERA in 359.2 innings pitched. She ranks 10th all-time in the SLIAC in strikeouts.
Modglin earned All-Conference honors three times her in career, including twice being named to the First Team. In 2016, she collected Newcomer of the Year honors after totaling 47 hits, four homers, 35 RBI, and a .416 clip. In her career behind the plate, Modglin batted .372, totaling 162 hits, 36 doubles, nine homers, and 93 RBI.
Simon accumulated numerous conference awards, including being a three-time SLIAC First Team honoree, the 2011 Newcomer of the Year, and 2013 SLIAC Player of the Year.
In her career, she appeared in 140 games, totaling 136 runs, 181 hits, 36 doubles, 16 homers, 118 RBI, a .607 slugging percentage, a .388 batting average. She ranks 10th in the SLIAC in RBI.
Smith, a four-time SLIAC All-Conference honoree, appeared in 163 games for the Griffins, totaling 93 runs scored, 147 hits, 38 doubles, 103 RBI, and batted .321.
VonBehren, a three-time SLIAC All-Conference selectee, along with being named the 2011 SLIAC All-Tournament MVP, and 2012 SLIAC Pitcher of the Year, appeared in 74 games for Fontbonne, totaling 55 starts, 32 complete games, 34 wins in 328.1 innings pitched, 287 strikeouts, and 2.58 ERA.
