ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men's volleyball team hits the road this weekend to play four games in two days at the Purple Raider Rumble held in Alliance, Ohio.

A Look At The Griffins

  • Fontbonne improved to 4-0 overall last week after wins over Marian (Wis.) and Maranatha Baptist.
  • On the year, the team has totaled 170 kills, 13.08 kills per set, 152 assists, 141 digs, and 22 blocks.
  • They rank third nationally in kills per set, fifth in hitting percentage (.325), fourth in assists per set (11.69), and fifth in opponent hitting percentage (.086).
  • Individually, Josh Farley leads the offense with 37 kills and a .386 hitting percentage.
  • Brendon Schwartze is also off to a strong start with 28 kills and a .292 hitting percentage, while Braden Woolsey (26) and Mark Klusman (21), each have surpassed 20-plus kills on the year.
  • Kyler van Rossum-O'Connell handed out 140 assists thus far and ranks third nationally with 10.77 assists per set.
  • Defensively, Zach Rothstein leads the group with 34 digs.

 

A Look At The Thomas More Saints

  • Thomas More picked up its first win on the season after a sweep over Cincinnati Christian.
  • On the season, they've totaled 292 kills and a .102 hitting percentage.
  • Nick Richard will be a player to look out for with his 102 kills and .189 hitting percentage.
  • Setter Tanner Miller has been busy with 243 assists and Ryan Hans owns a team-high 58 digs on the season.

 

A Look At The Thiel College Tomcats

  • The Tomcats are in search of its first victory in 2019.
  • They've posted 229 kills and a .168 hitting percentage thus far.
  • Mitchell Patterson paces them with 55 kills, while Chance Hoffman and Jacob Burkley have 53 and 43 kills, respectively.
  • Defensively, Ryan Sumarsono has 62 digs.
  • The Tomcats have combined for 44 blocks and Colton Greenlee accounts for 21 of them.

 

A Look At The Mount Union Raiders

  • After winning three straight matches, the Raiders have dropped its last three against Misericordia, Randolph-Macon and Geneva.
  • On the season, they've totaled 10.43 kills per set and a .144 hitting percentage.
  • Freshman Mark Bruns is on top with 153 kills and a .225 hitting percentage. He also ranks first with 23 service aces and second on the team with 26 blocks.
  • Jeremy Leyden averages 8.73 assists per set and Andrew Chen has totaled a team-high 98 digs (3.16 digs per set).

 

A Look At Penn St.-Altoona

  • The Lions earned its first road win at Wilkes on Wednesday.
  • The team has totaled 10.65 kills per set and a .173 hitting percentage in its five matches.
  • Offensively, Brian Sheddy leads with 53 kills and a .270 hitting percentage.
  • The duo of Danny dry and Kyle Whiteman have combined for 152 of the teams 171 assists.
  • Defensively, freshman libero Tyler Chan accumulated a team-high 42 digs.
