In 2015, Coach Hoener has stepped down as the men's head coach to assist men's head coach Ricky Andrews. Hoener will still be the head women's coach. The 2014 season marked Brian Hoener's 15th as the head coach for the Fontbonne University men's soccer team and 4th for the women's team.  During that time, Coach Hoener has led Fontbonne to a total of four St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) regular season championships (2003, 2004, 2008), two SLIAC Tournament Championships (2004 & 2006) and three appearances in the NCAA Division III National Tournament (2003, 2004, 2006) for the men and a coaching record of 155-107-33. In his second season with the women, Coach Hoener led the Griffins to their first regular season SLIAC championship in 2012.

Coach Hoener has been selected as the SLIAC Coach of the Year in 2003, 2004, 2008 and 2013.  Under Coach Hoener’s leadership, Fontbonne’s men's soccer team has qualified for the SLIAC Tournament in each of his last 12 seasons.

Coach Hoener is a graduate of Fontbonne University and played two seasons with the Griffins. He attended Lewis & Clark Community College prior to transferring to Fontbonne. He graduated and played high school soccer at McCluer North High School. Coach Hoener also serves as Fontbonne’s assistant men's soccer coach. He resides in North County with his wife Julie and three children.
