ST. LOUIS, Mo.— The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released its 2021 Baseball Preseason Poll and the Griffins came in at No. 3.
Webster was picked first and they were followed by Spalding, while after Fontbonne the Westminster Blue Jays took the No. 4 slot.
Earning a spot on the watch list this season included hurler Luke Summers and Braeden Dobbs. Summers, a senior, is a two-time SLIAC Pitcher of the Year winner where in just last year shortened season he went 3-0 with a 1.38 ERA and struck out 40 batters.
He's 25-8 all-time and sat down 290 batters. He needs just six more wins and 46 strikeouts to become the all-time leader in SLIAC history.
Dobbs, meanwhile, ended the 2020 season in 17 games with a .313 clip, 21 hits, 18 runs scored, one homer, and 17 RBI.
Along with Summers and Dobbs, the Griffins bring plenty of returners back both at the plate and on the rubber that continue to look in making an impact in 2021.
