Summers And Hoevelmann Named To D3Baseball.com All-Central Region Team

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The D3baseball.com All-Central Region Teams were announced today. Luke Summers was named to the First Team, while Jonathan Hoevelmann collected Third Team honors.

Summers, a St. Louis, Mo., native, is named to the All-Central Region Team for the second straight year after being named to the Second Team in 2018.

This year the junior had a standout 2019 campaign. The hurler went 11-2 in 94.0 innings of work, allowing just seven earned runs, striking out 127 batters, and owning a 0.67 ERA, all of which are career-best marks.

Nationally, Summers ranks first in ERA and second in strikeouts. With those kind of numbers, Summers was named to the SLIAC All-Conference First Team and awarded Pitcher of the Year honors for the second consecutive season, making him the first player in SLIAC history to accomplish that feat.

Hoevelmann, a St. Louis, Mo., native, earns the All-Central Region award for the first time in his career. The senior had a career-year at the plate where he batted .377, totaling 60 hits, 41 runs scored, 13 doubles, three homers, and 24 RBI.

On the base paths, he was just as effective where he ended up with a single-season record 34 stolen bases and that placed him fifth overall nationally. He was also named to the SLIAC All-Conference First Team.

Overall, Hoevelmann closes out his career at Fontbonne with a .320 clip, totaling 145 hits, 105 runs scored, 21 doubles, four triples, five homers, and 60 RBI. He leaves Fontbonne as the all-time leader in stolen bases with 85.
