2012 Inductees
Rich Faet (Men's Golf)
Faeth earned First-Team All-Conference honors in each of his
three years as a Griffin. He placed in the top five at the SLIAC
Tournament in each of those three years. In 2004, Faeth placed
fourth in the SLIAC Tournament with a three-round score of 231 just
two shot behind the winner. In 2005,Faeth placed second with a
score of 232 just five shots behind the winner. In 2006, Faeth
was named the SLIAC Player of the Year after winning the SLIAC
Tournament with a 219.
During Faeth’s three years at Fontbonne, the Griffins won
the SLIAC Championship in men’s golf in 2004 and 2006, and
placed second in 2005.
Sarah Heger
(Women's Volleyball)
Heger was a defensive specialist on the Griffins volleyball
team from 2000-2003. Heger led her team in digs in each of her four
seasons. She earned SLIAC First-Team All-Conference honors during
her junior year and then in the first season it was awarded, Heger
was named SLIAC Defensive Player of the Year in her senior year.
Following her senior year, Heger was the Griffin all-time career
leader in digs. She is currently second all-time in career digs her
total was recently passed.
During her four years at Fontbonne, Heger's team won the SLIAC
regular season championship in each one of those seasons. Heger
also led her team to qualify for the NCAA Division III National
Volleyball Tournament in each of the four seasons. In her junior
year, Heger's team actually won a first round game in the NCAA
Tournament.
Heger currently teaches at Marian Middle School, a fifth through
eighth grade middle school for girls, purposefully targeting an
economically challenged population to break the cycle of poverty
through education. She coaches seventh and eighth grade
volleyball there. Sarah is a Sister of Joseph, a vocation she
realized during her time at Fontbonne.
Holly Reichel
(Women's Softball)
Reichel was a two-year standout at Fontbonne in the softball
program. She earned SLIAC First-Team All-Conference honors both
years. During her junior season, Reichel went 19-8 with a 1.38
earned run average with a 177 stikeouts (2nd most strikeouts in a
single season in school history). Reichel also hit .413 from
the plate with 45 hits, 22 runs and 30 RBI’s. She led her
team in wins, hits, RBI’s and batting average that season.
Fontbonne was 23-14 that season with a 10-2 SLIAC record. Fontbonne
finished 1st in the conference and appeared in the NCAA
Tournament. Reichel was named the SLIAC Player of the Year her
junior year.
During her senior year, Holly led her team again in pitching with
a 14-4 record and 1.12 earned run average. She finished 52 in the
country that year in earned run average. Fontbonne finished
27-13 that season and 8-4 in the SLIAC. The Griffins finished in
second place in the SLIAC.
