Dean Fournie (Men's
Basketball)
Dean Foumie is a 1991 graduate of Fontbonne University. He graduated with a bachelor of science in business administration. Dean was a member of the inaugural men's basketball team here at the University. He transferred to Fontbonne from Missouri Baptist University.
Dean played point guard for two seasons at Fontbonne from 1988-1990. During those two years, he compiled 389 assists and 211 steals. He led the team in assists both years. During the 1989-90 season, Dean set a school record for most steals in a season with 82. He also made 89 percent of his free throw attempts that year.
Dean is married to the former Jennifer Baxter (an alumna of Fontbonne). They live in St. Louis with their two sons.
Shane Tatum (Men's Baseball)
Shane Tatum is a 1998 graduate of Fontbonne University. He graduated with a bachelor of science in business administration. Shane played outfield on Fontbonne's baseball team for two years, during the 1997 and 1998 seasons.
In 1997, Shane was selected to the St.Louis Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference Second Team All-Conference. During that year,
Shane hit .355 with 43 hits, 37 runs scored, five home runs
and 34 RBI's. During the 1998 season, Shane hit .373 with 53 hits,
62 runs scored, 11 home runs and 52 RBI's. He finished second in
the conference in home runs and third in RBI's that year. His 62
runs scored in 1998 set a school record for most runs scored in a
year.
Shane was an integral part of the team's success during that 1998 season. The Fontbonne baseball team finished 41-7, won the SLIAC, and appeared in the NCAA Tournament. That team's 41 wins is the school record for most wins in a season.
