Griffins Host Competition to Fight Breast Cancer
St. Louis- Fontbonne and Westminster came together tonight to recognize the fight against Breast Cancer in front of the largest crowd of the year so far. Westminster got the upper hand on the Griffins, winning in three sets.
Fontbonne rolled out to an impressive 9-2 start before the Blue Jays went on a 12-3 run to lead 14-12. The two teams would tie at 15 and 18 before Westminster would win 25-23.
The second set would go back and forth with 14 ties before the Blue Jays prevailed with a 25-23 score once again. Tied at 18 in the third set, Fontbonne scored only once more before Westminster ran away with a 7-0 run to end the game.
Freshman Riley Lawrence scored the game-high 12 kills on the night. Kayla Reeg contributed 37 assists and three Blue Jays recorded double digit digs.
Fontbonne travels to Blackburn Thursday for another SLIAC matchup at 7pm.
